From our Tribo to yours

It was a simple yet powerful idea.
Our inspiration came from the capulana—beautiful, versatile, and a profound expression of the rich culture we encountered in Mozambique. We envisioned a way to honor this fabric by transforming it into something fresh and unexpected, sharing its beauty with the world while respecting its heritage.
Thus, our journey began. Armed with an old sewing machine, we meticulously experimented with designs and cuts, piece by piece.
From this creative spark, Tribo emerged—small at first, yet already sophisticated and bold, embracing the essence of African culture in both its name and spirit. Master artisans Bento and Simão quickly connected with Tribo’s vision. As our community grew, so did Tribo—it became a collaborative effort that encompassed all of us: Bento, Manuel at the cutting table, our families, friends, and all the wonderful people who supported us.
We recognized that we had created something enduring. Customers who purchased a piece often returned for more. Each bag was handcrafted with love, embodying countless hours of dedication and resilience—even during challenging times marked by market uncertainties and fabric shortages.
As time passed and we transitioned from Mozambique, we understood that it was time for Tribo to evolve while honoring its roots. We moved to a larger workshop, scaling our operations while maintaining a commitment to thoughtful design and social responsibility.
While Tribo may have moved, its heart remains unchanged. We remain the brand that originated in Mozambique, now connected to the world. We blend influences from various cultures, celebrating diversity and unity, and aspire to be a part of every community we touch.
